Whether you are a seasoned player or just starting your baseball journey, Mayfield Boomerangs Baseball Club offers programs and opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. We are proud to be an inclusive and diverse club where athletes are supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their potential.
Our focus is on player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship both on and off the field. We strive to create a positive environment that builds skills, confidence, and lifelong friendships, while prioritising the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

Starting at the beginning?
DO I NEED BASEBALL EXPERIENCE? No prior experience is required. We welcome players of all skill levels, from beginners learning the basics to experienced athletes looking to develop further. Our coaches focus on teaching fundamentals, building confidence, and helping every player improve at their own pace.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Players should bring a baseball glove, a drink bottle, and a positive attitude. If you already own a bat, helmet, or other equipment, feel free to bring it along however, it is not required to get started. We supply bats, catchers gear, uniform tops (personal tops can be purchased). Uniform pants (White), Baseball cap, belts and socks can be purchased through the club canteen.
IS BASEBALL SAFE FOR BEGINNERS? Yes. Player safety is our top priority, especially for beginners. All training sessions are designed to be age-appropriate and skill-appropriate, with an emphasis on learning fundamentals in a controlled and supportive environment. Our coaches closely supervise all activities, use proper safety equipment, and introduce skills progressively to ensure players feel confident and safe as they learn.
WHAT AGES AND GENDERS CAN PLAY? All teams are mixed gender sides with girls playing in each of our age groups.Please see our age matrix attachment.
HOW DOES BASEBALL WORK? Baseball is a team sport played between two teams. One team bats while the other fields. The batting team tries to hit the ball and run around the bases to score runs, while the fielding team tries to get batters and runners out. Teams take turns batting and fielding, and the team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
WHAT'S THE VIBE LIKE? At Mayfield Boomerangs, we’re all about teamwork, fun,  fitness and personal growth. Players encourage each other, coaches guide with patience, and everyone from beginners to seasoned athletes are welcomed and supported. We celebrate effort, sportsmanship, and learning just as much as winning, creating an environment where players feel confident and motivated to improve.
ANY OTHER INFO I NEED? The season will start April 11th 2026 and will run until late September.​We supply bats, catchers gear, uniform tops (personal tops can be purchased). Uniform pants (White), Baseball cap, belts and socks can be purchased through the club canteen.Games are played home and away from Boomerang Field, Mayfield West, Newcastle, NSW.
