Club History
Over the decades, thousands of local players have represented the Boomerangs across senior and junior baseball, as well as softball. Today, the club fields six senior teams and four or more junior teams each season. The majority of club funding continues to be raised through the dedication of our members, supported by the generous backing of our major sponsors.

From humble beginnings..
Founded in 1953 with just one team and a family member’s garden shed serving as the original clubhouse, Mayfield Boomerangs Baseball Club has grown into one of the region’s most respected and enduring baseball communities.
From the very beginning, we have been a true family club. Some families have been involved for four generations, contributing not only as players but also as volunteers, coaches, and administrators who have helped shape the club over decades.

Home Base
Boomerangs have proudly called Mayfield home since day one. The club originally played at Dangar Park before establishing Boomerang Field in 1979.
The field was built largely through the voluntary efforts of club members, who erected the backstop and fencing, laid the turf, constructed dugouts, and built the batting tunnel.
To this day, Boomerang Field is maintained entirely by volunteers and is widely regarded by players as one of the best playing surfaces in Newcastle.
